Dr Joanne Hobson has worked in Nottingham as a GP for over 30 years and has always had an interest in women’s sexual health and psychosexual medicine. She has been involved and interested in Hormones for the past 25 years where she has worked for both the NHS and a number of private practices.

Although she is now retired as a partner in general practice, she still undertakes locum surgeries in primary care.

She is a BMS accredited menopause specialist and trainer and has run a menopause clinic with a colleague for the last 15 years in Nottingham.

She also works in a Nottingham community gynaecology clinic and sees all aspects of gynaecology, including patients with some psychosexual problems.

Personal Interests

Dr Hobson is a member of the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine and regularly give talks to local groups, including The Moving Forward Course for women recovering from breast cancer. She is a keen speaker providing further talks to other heal care professionals including GP colleagues as well as to both the public and private sectors.

She contributes to local radio programmes on general health as well as menopausal topics and has given a series of talks to Derbyshire Constabulary about the menopause in the workplace and how it affects women. Dr Hobson believes passionately that women should be empowered to make the right choices for themselves on all aspects of the hormone health journey.

In her spare time, Dr Hobson endeavours to improve her fitness in the hope that shortly, she’ll be able to hit the slopes!
