IMS Recommendations and Key Messages on Women’s Midlife Health and Menopause - Hormone Health

The International Menopause Society (IMS) has published its Recommendations and Key Messages on Women’s Midlife Health and Menopause, representing one of the most comprehensive and up-to-date global resources in this field.

Developed following a rigorous systematic review, the recommendations were formulated by an international writing group of 38 experts. Together, they provide evidence-based guidance across 30 key areas of midlife health, including lifestyle, vasomotor symptoms, genitourinary syndrome of menopause, cardiometabolic health, bone health, cancer, dementia, premature ovarian insufficiency, and sexual wellbeing.

The overarching aim of these recommendations is to provide a clear, evidence-based blueprint for the management of women’s midlife health and menopause, supporting clinicians, policymakers, and researchers worldwide.

We are proud to highlight that Hormone Health Founder and Director and Immediate Past President, IMS, Prof Nick Panay, was lead author on this global effort.

Reflecting on the work, Prof Panay stated:

“What has been delivered by an exceptional international team is a clear, shared menopause agenda that provides direction for clinical practice, policy, and research worldwide. It calls for improved access to balanced, evidence-based information to support women’s health literacy and confident decision-making; stronger policy support from governments and institutions to advance research and clinical management; enhanced education and training for healthcare professionals; responsible media engagement that prioritises accuracy over sensationalism; and continued pharmaceutical research and development to expand safe, effective, and affordable treatment options globally.”
